Présente sur le circuit depuis 2016, la joueuse américaine de 24 ans est loin d’être adepte du visage impassible sur un court. Bien au contraire : elle laisse souvent transparaître ses émotions et ses pensées à travers des réactions très marquées ou des expressions qui en disent long.
Les fans l’ont rapidement remarqué, au point de régulièrement transformer ses réactions en montages humoristiques publiés sur les réseaux sociaux.

Interrogée sur les montages réalisés par les fans lors de sa conférence de presse d’avant-tournoi à Flushing Meadows, la finaliste de l’US Open 2024 a répondu avec franchise.
“I definitely see them. They’re very entertaining and very funny, » a reconnu Anisimova.
« I didn’t always think that, because I’ve definitely always been very expressive, and an emotional player and make all kinds of faces that I didn’t even know my face could possibly make. »

En poursuivant sa réponse, Anisimova a évoqué une photo prise lors de sa défaite en trois sets contre Ashleigh Barty en demi-finales de Roland-Garros 2019. La 11e mondiale a reconnu avoir été « mortified » en découvrant le cliché. Elle s’était alors promis de ne plus jamais afficher une telle expression sur un court… sans pour autant y parvenir.

The next morning I woke up and I saw the pictures, I was mortified. I told myself ‘Oh my God. This is awful. I can never make these faces again. I’m never gonna do it again,' » a ajouté la double finaliste en Grand Chelem.
« But here we are today. I can’t help it. It’s who I am. Now I’m able to find them entertaining and hilarious. But at the time when I was a teenager I really thought that was quite awful. »
