Last season Arsenal came close to winning the Premier League title for the first time since the 2003/04 season. With expectations at the club now higher than they have been for years, the pressure is really on boss Mikel Arteta to deliver silverware in the 2023/24 campaign.

Another consequence of Arsenal’s second-place finish is they will be in the Champions League in the upcoming season. This means competing on four fronts, which could make or break Arteta at the club.

So how will the Spaniard and his squad cope? Let’s start by taking a look at what the bookmakers think.

How many trophies will Arsenal win in 2023/24?

After coming so close to winning the Premier League last season, Arsenal are the 11/2 second favourites to win the title in 2023/24. Manchester City is the overwhelming favourite at 8/13, and why wouldn’t they be after just winning the treble? But the online sports betting sites aren’t just offering odds on Arsenal to win the Premier League in the upcoming season.

In total trophies betting, the Gunners are 2/5 to win zero trophies in the 2023/24 season. This is the shortest price bet available on Arsenal, and if the bookmakers are correct, it doesn’t bode well for Arteta and the club’s fans. To win the Premier League and FA Cup, Arsenal are 50/1. While to complete the treble of Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, Arsenal are 1000/1.

It’s fair to say that the bookmakers aren’t expecting much glory for Arsenal in the new season.

What would be a successful season for the Gunners?

At the start of the 2022/23 season, most Arsenal fans would probably have gladly taken a second-place finish in the Premier League. But now, having come so close in the 2022/23 season, would they accept that again this season?

Finishing second, only five points behind Manchester City, is a respectable return. If Arteta can achieve something similar, along with a decent run in the Champions League, that could be regarded as an acceptable season.

Winning trophies in England and Europe isn’t easy. As Liverpool fans can testify, beating Man City to a league title is hard. And it could require a couple of near misses before Arteta and Arsenal are ready to finally get the better of Pep’s team.

If Arsenal can finish second again and claim one of the domestic cups, that should keep most fans happy.

Patience is required at the Emirates Stadium

Arsenal haven’t been resting on their laurels since finishing second in the Premier League. Extensive squad building has been going on throughout the summer in an attempt to bolster the playing staff, allowing it to compete on four fronts.

That has resulted in a lot of money being spent, and it’s not finished either. The rebuilding of Arsenal under Mikel Arteta is a long-term process. The new signings will take time to settle in, and it could be a couple of years before the fruits of this summer’s transfer dealings are felt.

During this time, patience will be required, both on and off the field. And as Arsenal found when they stuck by Arteta during previous difficult moments, showing patience can pay off.
